The Great Northern EP-5 Electric Locomotive 6-18302 is unique not for the model rarity but the prototype rarity. This was only used inside the Great Northern Cascade Tunnel, once the largest tunnel in America, in the days of steam to prevent engineers and passengers from suffocating. Unlike Milwaukee Road, which electrified much of Washington State, GN only electrified the tunnel and left Steam Locomotives on either side to handle the rest of the journey.
