Show Season Starts Saturday in Battle Ground

Fall train show season is here, and David’s Trains is starting the next stretch of shows Saturday, Sept. 26, in Battle Ground, Washington. The Southwest Washington Model Railroaders swap meet will be held at Battle Ground High School Gymnasium. David’s Trains’ show record lists the school at 300 W. Main St. For show access, the current public event posting directs visitors to the north entrance at 250 N. Parkway, near Main Street, with free parking in the N. Parkway lot.

Regular show hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. General admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children under 6 are admitted free with an adult. The event listing also describes a large marketplace with about 200 tables of model trains, railroad material, memorabilia and collectibles, along with operating HO and Z scale layouts.

For David’s Trains, Battle Ground is more than another date on the calendar. It marks the start of a busy fall run in which we are increasing our physical presence at shows. We have learned that customers value the opportunity to see equipment in person, compare condition, ask questions and talk through what will work on their layouts. We want to make more of that possible.

Early Bird Admission Gives Shoppers a Head Start

One admission option deserves special attention for collectors who want the first look at the tables. The show offers “Beat the Crowd” admission for $10 beginning at 9 a.m. That is 30 minutes before regular admission starts.

That extra time can matter at a swap meet. Much of the O Gauge equipment available at a show is not mass inventory. A particular locomotive, freight car, passenger car or accessory may be the only example of that item on a table. Collectors looking for a specific road name, manufacturer, production era or condition often arrive with a short list in mind. Early admission gives those shoppers a chance to look before the main crowd enters.

It is also useful for anyone who wants time to inspect an item carefully or ask questions without as much traffic around the table. For used trains especially, condition and completeness can matter as much as the model number. A few quieter minutes can make it easier to look at the box, check the item itself and discuss what we know about it.

David’s Trains Is Bringing a Larger Presence

David’s Trains will have six tables in Battle Ground, each 6 feet long, for a total of 36 linear feet of display space. That larger footprint is part of a broader change for this show season. At many of the shows we are attending, we have doubled our number of tables or more compared with our earlier presence.

The goal is not simply to occupy more floor space. More tables let us organize inventory in a way that is easier to shop. O Gauge covers a wide range of equipment, from compact Traditional O27 cars through full O scale equipment, along with locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars, cabooses, buildings, accessories, track and control equipment. When too many categories are compressed into a small booth, it is harder to see what is actually there.

A larger setup also gives us more room to bring products that reflect the regions where we are showing. Pacific Northwest road names remain important to many of our customers, while other shoppers are looking for Lionel, MTH and other manufacturers regardless of railroad. We also meet customers who are starting a layout and need practical equipment rather than a specific collectible. More room gives us a better chance to serve all of those interests at the same show.

What You Can Expect From David’s Trains This Season

The exact inventory at any individual show can change as products sell and as we choose what fits the audience and available space. Our current online inventory gives a good picture of the range we are carrying into the season. Complete trains include the Lionel Boy Scouts of America Complete Set 6-30161, while locomotive shoppers can see examples such as the Lionel Great Northern F3ABA Diesel Locomotive Set 6-11724. Passenger equipment includes the Lionel Milwaukee Road Hiawatha Skytop 15" Aluminum Passenger Car Set 6-19184 FREE SHIPPING!.

Freight equipment remains a major part of what we carry. Current examples include the MTH Premier Reading Tank Car 20-96141, the Lionel Great Northern Stock Car 6-9450 and the MTH Rail King Chesapeake & Ohio Flatcar 30-8304. Caboose shoppers can look at equipment such as the Lionel SP&S Square Window Caboose 6-36573, while layout builders can find accessories such as the Lionel Yard Tower 6-83147.

These links show current online examples, not a promise that every listed item will be on the Battle Ground tables. Show inventory changes as items sell, and some products are selected for particular events. If there is something specific you want to see, checking the online store before a show is the best way to see what is currently available.

More Fall Shows Are Ahead

Battle Ground is the beginning of the next run, not the end of it. Our current show calendar continues with Lynden on Oct. 3 and 4, Spokane Valley on Oct. 11, Chehalis on Oct. 17 and 18, Kent on Nov. 7 and Longview on Nov. 21. We are planning a substantial presence throughout the season, with more table space at many events than customers have seen from us before.

Because event information can change, our David’s Trains 2026–2027 Train Show Schedule remains the best place on our site to follow the larger calendar. We will continue updating our show information as dates and arrangements are confirmed.

Every show has a slightly different character. Some are especially strong for collectors searching for older Lionel. Others bring a broad mix of scales and manufacturers. Regional shows also give us a chance to learn what customers in different areas are trying to find. That information helps shape what we bring to later events and what we look for when buying collections.

Shop Online Between Shows

You do not have to wait for a train show to see what is available. Our In Stock O Gauge Trains collection is the broadest place to browse products currently available online, while New Arrivals is useful for seeing recently added inventory. Customers building regional consists can browse Northwest Road Names, and shoppers focused on freight can go directly to our O Gauge Freight Cars.

Online availability and show availability work together, but they are not identical. Items can sell online before a show, and some show inventory may be newly acquired or still being processed. The larger show footprint gives us more room to bring variety, while the website remains the most current place to check products that are ready for online purchase.

See You in Battle Ground

If Battle Ground is within reach Saturday, this is a good opportunity to start the fall show season with us. Shoppers who want first access can use the $10 early bird admission beginning at 9 a.m. Regular admission begins at 9:30 a.m., with $5 adult admission, $3 student admission and free admission for children under 6 with an adult.

Look for the larger David’s Trains setup inside the gymnasium. With six tables and 36 linear feet in Battle Ground, we will have more room to display trains clearly, talk with customers and bring a broader selection than a smaller booth allows. We expect that larger presence to continue at many of our upcoming shows, and we look forward to seeing customers across the region as the season continues.
